How to enjoy the 4-hour Justice League Snyder Cut

THE title can be pretty redundant really. How? If you’re part of the multitude of super fans who demanded that Warner Bros. #ReleaseTheSnyderCut, then chances are, you’re going to enjoy this four-hour epic anyway. Heck, you’ve probably already watched it already (“Zack Snyder’s Justice League” was released on HBO GO, March 18 at 3 p.m.).

For those who aren’t aware of this project’s long and troubled history, director Zach Snyder had to step down while the 2017 version of “Justice League” was in production due to the death of his daughter. Studio bigwigs had director Joss Whedon (“The Avengers,” “The Avengers: Age of Ultron”) stepped in to finish the project. This resulted in a movie which the fans (and critics) disliked (and that’s putting it kindly). The ideas during pre-production and during principal photography seemed to have suffered in the final output.

After years of clamor, the original director is back on the driver’s seat and delivers a version of a movie that’s true to his vision. It’s still early but from what people are saying online, this version is the epic fans deserved all along.

If you’re the casual viewer who’s waiting for the weekend before streaming “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” here are a few tips to enjoy the four-hour superhero epic.

You can watch it straight or in parts

Let’s first talk about the obvious concern for casual viewers. The movie is four hours and two minutes long. It’s twice as long as films released in cinemas.

But that’s the beauty of streaming these days. One can watch the film from the comforts of his home, and can even hit that pause button if need be.

Snyder’s “Justice League” is twice as long as the theatrical version because it explores deeper story arcs for its heroes (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg).

The filmmakers made it easier on viewers though, by dividing the film into six parts. Imagine watching “Justice League” like its own mini-series!

Part 1: “Don’t Count On It, Batman”

Part 2: “Age of Heroes”

Part 3: “Beloved Mother, Beloved Son”

Part 4: “Change Machine”

Part 5: “All The King’s Horses”

Part 6: “Something Darker"

It’s a new film

Forget everything you know about 2017. “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” is a different beast. The film adds never-before-seen footage with new villains (and a sighting of an old fan-favorite). It even has a new finale and a new after-credits scene. The scoring has also been changed for a new one, done by the original composer Junkie XL. Lastly, the visual effects have been added or redone.

Watch the previous movies first

Again, “Zack Snyder’s Justice League” is not coming out in theaters, so that means you have the power when and where to watch it. That said, viewers may want to watch “Man of Steel” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” first (and in that order). “Justice League” is supposedly the third movie in line.
