Pangan: Passion for RevGov lingers

ANGELES City Councilor Joseph “PG” Ponce remains a believer of, and crusader for, federalism.

In a previous column (September 28, 2020), I wrote that Councilor Ponce advocated a peaceful and non-violent RevGov to achieve a combination of presidential, federal and parliamentary form of government.

This time, the very active alderman said it must be the people who should initiate the relevant reform and overhaul of the system of government, invoking the Vox populi, Vox Dei maxim to prove his point.

Even President Duterte hinted at the change in the form of government in his various speeches at different for a, saying it is the people who clamor for such change and give him extraordinary powers to effectively eradicate poverty, illegal drugs. Criminality, corruption and insurgency.

It is in RevGov that LGUs will benefit immensely as the benefits of RevGov will go directly to their constituents.

In the said column, I emphasized that change demands that we introduce innovations and other changes in our present setup to make our type of government relevant and effective to the needs of our time.

Councilor Ponce observes that there is an urgent need for a cultural transformation and there is no person who may be willing to carry on this task except President Duterte who shares the same passion and fire in the heart to change to a government that is most able to serve the people and profess true love for the country.

The change to a RevGov entails a great sacrifice by the people who stand to benefit from it.

Councilor Ponce claims the change to RevGov will dramatically change the political landscape and culture of leaders who are so aware of patronage politics which inherently breeds corruption and unfair practices.

It is about time we improved on our style of governance, serving truthfully and faithfully the interests of our people without mental reservation and hints of deception, says Councilor Ponce.

He believes that RevGov cum federalism can bring drastic but effective changes in our economy and society. He interjects the objections to the shift to a revolutionary system of government but he says the people will get used to an orderly, regimented and systematic form of government.
