CIAC exec bares pipeline projects

A TOP executive from the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) bared four major infrastructure projects at the airport.

CIAC Vice President for Operations Irish Calaguas said these infrastructure projects include the rehabilitation and upgrading of Airfield Ground Lighting System (AGLS); the construction of the New Air Traffic Control Tower building; Detailed Architectural and Engineering Design (DAED) of the CIA’s second runway; and the commissioning of Primary (PSR) and Secondary Surveillance Radars (SSR).

Calaguas, also head of CIAC’s Bids and Awards Committee, said the projects were funded by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA).

“These projects are BCDA funded, but CIAC is the procuring entity,” she said.

Approved budgets for these projects included AGLS - P497,587,275.25; new control tower - P291,009,954.49; DAED second runway - P200,000,000; and radars P603,980,000.

Target completion for the AGLS and the new control tower is in the first quarter of 2022, while the radars are in the fourth quarter of 2022. Meanwhile, the DAED is expected to be completed 270 calendar days upon issuance of its Notice to Proceed.

CIAC has refocused its operations to further develop the 2,367-hectare Clark Civil Aviation Complex to become a globally competitive services and logistics hub.
