GYMS, spas and internet cafes in the National Capital Region (NCR) are closed until April 4, 2021 as part of the more stringent measures being enforced to curb transmission of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque on Tuesday, March 23, said this was ordered by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) upon the recommendation of the Metro Manila Council.
The government has tightened quarantine protocols in the NCR and in the neighboring provinces of Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal. The four provinces were added to the list of areas placed under general community quarantine (GCQ).
DTI has also suspended operations of driving schools, traditional cinemas and video and interactive game arcades, libraries, archives, museums and cultural centers, social events in establishments accredited by the Department of Tourism (DOT) and tourist attractions except those in open air.
Only al fresco dine-in services are allowed.
Mass gatherings such as religious events, meetings and seminars are prohibited while the conduct of weddings, baptism and funeral services are limited to 10 persons. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
