Hosaka faces Fukui in Japan

FILIPINO-Japanese Go Hosaka is seeing action in Japan for the first time in his pro boxing career on April 8. Hosaka takes on Kanta Fukui in an eight-rounder at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.

The 24-year-old Hosaka, who lives in Tokyo, was once based in Cebu at the now defunct ALA Gym in Mandaue City. This is his first fight since the ALA Gym and ALA Promotions closed down in August 2020.

Hosaka last fought in Tagbilaran City on Sept. 23, 2019. He stopped Kim Lindog in three rounds.

Hosaka, who has Filipino roots from La Union, was one of the new breed of ALA Boys that were being groomed to become stars.

The 27-year-old Fukui should be a good test for Hosaka. Fukui is also a young fighter that wants to climb up the lightweight ladder. Fukui just fought once in 2020. He defeated Mikado Konishi by unanimous decision.

Hosaka is 4-0 with three knockouts, while Fukui is 7-3-1 with five knockouts.

The main event is a 10-round welterweight bout between one-time world title challenger Keita Obara (7-3-1, 5 KOs) and veteran Shoki Sakai (25-11-2, 13 KOs). (EKA)
