3 nabbed for robbery extortion

THREE persons, including a security guard, who are employed by a former town mayor were arrested in an entrapment operation for robbery extortion in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Wednesday, March 24, 2021.

Police Brigadier General Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested suspects as the following: Jayson Limba Caduhada, 27, a security guard; Philip Galimpin Benlot, 41; and, Tony Dalangon Sumagaysay, 18.

Ylagan said the three were arrested in an entrapment operation around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday in Goleo village, Sindangan, Zamboanga del Norte.

He said the three suspects were working for Flora Villarosa, the former mayor of Siayan Zamboanga del Norte, and were allegedly collecting money from the dump truck drivers upon entry and exit at the provincial and national road.

Seized from the possessions of the suspects were the following: P1,000 marked money; P1,610.50 cash in different denominations and believed to be part of the collections; four cellular phones; four identification cards; a 12-gauge shotgun with six ammunition; 10 sets of warning device; a record book; and assorted documents.

He said formal charges will be filed against the suspects, who were detained. (SunStar Zamboanga)
