FOLLOWING reports of some mayors who have been vaccinated with coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines, Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella asked his fellow mayors to follow the order of prioritization.

Labella, who sits as the chairman of the League of Cities in the Philippines (LCP), said the order of priority sectors was provided by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the country is using donated Covid-19 vaccines.

Citing what President Rodrigo Duterte said, Labella said the WHO may stop providing the free vaccines should the country will not follow the order of prioritization.

"Mao na mas maayo siguro nga mosunod ta sa kung unsa ang naa sa guidelines. Anyways, maghuwat lang ta," said Labella, in a press conference on March 25, 2021.

Labella asked the Department of Health (DOH) to expedite the process and provide a timeline for the order of priorities.

Labella also asked the DOH to just provide to the next order of priorities the vaccine should there is refusal to be inoculated.

"Kung ang uban dili magpabakuna, dili nalang huwaton," he added.

Meanwhile, Labella said the City Government is only waiting for the supply agreement with the Faberco Life Sciences Inc. which contains the more specific details for the purchase.

Labella has already signed the term sheet with the Faberco.

On the second day of vaccination in Cebu City using the AstraZeneca vaccines, Cebu City Health Department (CHD) officer-in-charge Jeffrey Ibones said 887 medical workers and barangay health workers (BHWs) were inoculated in both sites - Robinsons Galleria and University of Cebu (UC)-Banilad.

Ibones said there are only remaining 120 doses of AZ in the city which will be used for the CHD personnel who are in charge in the vaccination program.

The DOH Central Visayas had allocated 1,600 doses of AZ for Cebu City. (JJL)
