PIMT head, 3 staff members test positive for coronavirus; guv on self-isolation

PARTS of the Provincial Capitol in Negros Occidental were placed on lockdown Friday, March 26, 2021, after the head of the Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) and his three staff members tested positive for the coronavirus.

Provincial Administrator lawyer Rayfrando Diaz also confirmed that he and Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson put themselves on self-isolation after they were exposed to PIMT head Zeaphard Caelian, who tested positive for the coronavirus based on the results that came out early Friday morning

Diaz said Caelian and his three PIMT personnel submitted themselves for reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing before their scheduled vaccination on Friday but were found positive for the virus.

"They were swabbed and tested twice and they all have positive results, but they are asymptomatic," Diaz said.

Caelian and his three personnel were immediately sent Friday to Mambukal Resort for quarantine, Diaz said.

Diaz said Lacson and himself had met with Caelian this week.

Both Lacson and Diaz were also due to undergo swab tests. The Office of the Governor, Office of the Provincial Administrator, and the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division office have also been placed on lockdown until Monday to give way to thorough disinfection of the premises.

Lacson also made a call to other officials and individuals who were exposed to him during his official functions in Bacolod City, Sipalay City and the town of Cauayan to also go on quarantine.

He also apologized for the anxiety he may have caused to those who were with him during his official functions this week.
