Country’s 1st on-the-go optical clinic now in Cebu

IN THIS digital age, the wearing of eyeglasses during screen time—no matter how young or old one is—is a must for eye protection. The increase in computer-use is one of the reasons why anti-radiation glasses were created as these are said to protect the eyes from harmful rays by blocking the electromagnetic radiation from the screen.

According to the Vision Impact Institute, approximately 60 percent of the world’s population is in need of vision correction. Fortunately, 80 percent of all visual impairment can be avoided or corrected.

But with the risk involved in stepping outside nowadays, even if safety measures are strictly followed and establishments have already upgraded their sanitation protocols, essential needs like eye checkups or securing eye protection have been set aside.

Though virtual consultations are available, seeing an expert and having one’s concern personally and physically checked with all the equipment or machines needed are whole different experiences.

Local lifestyle brand Sunnies Specs’ newest innovation, Specs on Wheels, a mobile optical clinic, has finally arrived in the Queen City of the South to address this problem. Now, Filipinos can have their eye checkup or lens upgrade done in the comfort of their homes.

Specs on Wheels includes a resident optometrist wearing full PPE (personal protective equipment), built-in UV-sanitation light system, a customized mobile clinic with state-of-the-art eye testing equipment, and customized colorful shelves at the back of the van which house over 100 optical frames for children and adults.

The mobile shop makes sure that each client is protected and safe with each appointment, by including temperature checks, sanitizing foot baths, surface and product disinfection between appointments, daily deep-cleaning, UV sterilizers and wands, and air filtering. A health declaration form is also needed to be filled out. The team will also send their temperature before arriving at the client’s area. And the wearing of face masks is required all throughout the appointment.

Every Specs on Wheels session is 30 minutes long, and allows for a maximum of three people per schedule. After the appointment, the team will process one’s order and deliver the eyeglasses directly to one’s delivery address free of charge. Single vision packages will be delivered on the same day or next business day, depending on the time of the scheduled appointment.

Identifying the country’s first mobile clinic on the road is easy because it is accentuated with the Sunnies aesthetic.

Specs on Wheels is available in Cebu City, Mandaue City, Lapu-Lapu City, Talisay City, Consolacion and Minglanilla, and operates daily from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Appointments can be rescheduled until 5 p.m. the day before the booked date.
