A TOTAL of 1,360 beneficiaries from the towns of Tuburan, Balamban, and Asturias in Cebu recently received financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 through the agency’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

Each beneficiary received P10,000 start-up capital to help them recover from the effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. DSWD released more than P13 million in livelihood assistance grant (Lag) for this program.

DSWD 7 Director Rebecca Geamala urged the beneficiaries to use the grant they received from the government for its intended purpose.

To ensure the financial assistance was used for its purpose, DSWD 7 said it will monitor the beneficiaries who are given seven days after they have received the grant to liquidate it.

Lag is part of the recovery and rehabilitation program under the Bayanihan 2 Social Amelioration Program. The SLP is a community-based capacity building program that seeks to improve the program participants’ socio-economic status. (NRC)
