WITH the arrival of a new batch of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines in the country, a total of 21,600 vaccines against Covid-19 will be allocated for Cebu.

This second batch of vaccines for Cebu consists of 7,200 doses of Sinovac vaccines and 14,400 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines. These will be used to inoculate 10,800 individuals.

The 7,200 doses of Sinovac vaccines already arrived in Cebu on Tuesday morning, March 30, 2021.

Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, spokesperson of the Department of Health (DOH) 7, announced this during her daily briefing on “Balitanghali” streamed live through the Facebook pages of Project Balik Buhay and the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (Opav).

Opav Secretary Michael Lloyd Dino said there will be no delay in the vaccine rollout despite the global vaccine supply woes.

He said that under the National Vaccine Roadmap, more deliveries of vaccines from other sources are expected to arrive in the country in the coming weeks and months.

The additional vaccines for Cebu are among the 1.4 million doses of Sinovac vaccines that the National Government bought for P700 million and that arrived in the country on Monday afternoon, March 29, 2021.

The National Government plans to buy a total of 25 million doses of Sinovac’s Covid-19 vaccines.

The country is also expecting the arrival of the additional 979,200 AstraZeneca vaccine doses donated through the World Health Organization’s COVAX Facility. (NRC/With PR)
