Tourists to Santa Fe in Bantayan need to submit letter of request

NON-RESIDENTS of Santa Fe, Bantayan Island who wish to visit or stay with their relatives in the town during the Holy Week need to submit a letter of request to the mayor.

The Santa Fe municipal government released the order as it is expecting a lot of tourists coming into Bantayan Island for the Lenten observance.

The new policy also helps in monitoring those visiting the town.

Meanwhile, tourists who will spend their Holy Week in Bantayan Island are also reminded to prepare the required documents before entering the island, such as the booking confirmation from the authorized resorts and hotels, medical certificate and valid ID.

Local government units in Bantayan Island also reminded tourists that mass gathering, liquor drinking and eating in public places remain prohibited.

Camping in beaches is prohibited, but swimming is allowed provided that they swim only until 6 p.m.

The Cebu Police Provincial Office has started deploying some of its personnel and auxiliary forces in Bantayan Island to secure those visiting there during the Holy Week.

Medical and emergency stations have been established in the beach resorts on the island. (ANV / JKV)
