Pangan: The selection process begins

IN THE midst of the ongoing aggravated pandemic, the so-called opposition grouped themselves and former Isambayan, supposedly the best alternative which can give administration candidates in the 2022 political exercise.

Its roster is topped by Vice President Leni Robredo (although still undecided) and will include Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, Senators Nancy Binay and Grace Poe and even former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV as possible candidates for president and vice president.

In its organizational meeting Thursday, March 18, 2021, former Supreme Court associate justice Antonio Carpio delivered the keynote address saying: The Filipino people should reject all those who refuse to defend and protect our national territory and sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea, for these are people who held back the progress and development of the country.

Retired Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales, another convenor, said: She was roused from retirement by inefficiency and widespread corruption in the government after the COVID 19 pandemic hit the country.

She cited the President’s own admission that corruption in the country was getting worse.

Whoever would be the next president of the Republic of the Philippines, the fact remains that the country is still economically backward compared with its Asean neighbors. Its technology is also inferior and its trade and commerce wanting.

Now that we are confronted with the Covid-19 pandemic, we are clueless as to the most effective cure to this deadly disease!

The five mayors (may be more) who jumped the line of the prioritization list of vaccine recipients deserve the show cause order issued by the DILG to explain why they overtook others in the priority list.

Mayor Alfred Romualdez of Tacloban City reasoned out that he just wanted to show his constituents that the vaccine is safe and urged them to have themselves vaccinated. Aha!

The other mayors have to explain convincingly why they jumped the line over the frontliners who were first on the priority list. The senior citizens and persons with comorbidities come next.
