CATHOLIC faithful and other religious communities were not able to freely commemorate the Lenten Season that highlighted the death by crucifixion of Jesus Christ and His resurrection, as Covid-19 pandemic has likewise "resurrected" with the increase in cases in the locality and in the country as a whole.

National and local government leaders had imposed travel restrictions and regulated church activities that drew crowds to prevent the possible spread of the virus.

Churches commemorated their religious traditions by way of online masses and some held processions in the safest mode.

I went to some places such as resorts and restaurants which were not exempted by government regulations.

Other places outside of Bacolod City accommodated only guests with prior reservations.

Walk-ins were discouraged as a matter of complying with the health protocol insofar as the maximum 50-percent capacity.

A lot of people were already looking forward to celebrating "happy days," but the pandemic spoiled their joy. Many were also careful about going out because of the fear of getting the virus.

Some social media accounts and pages had somehow unnecessarily performed well in spreading fears about Covid-19.

Despite the existence of the vaccines, the threat remained and even got worse with the increase of Covid-19 positives.

The best and safest way to observe the Lenten tradition was to stay at home and be with our family. Although, a bit boring still, the safety of everyone mattered most. And that was how Christians generally observed the whole Lenten Week under virus woes.

No one likes to undergo the health protocols in hospitals and more so the skyrocketing expenses that will entail if one, God forbid, gets hospitalized now.

As for the rest of the summer, there are many things one can enjoy while at home such as having an inflatable swimming pool at your garage and enjoy knee-deep swimming with family members especially kids. Watch favorite movies or Korean film series over your Android phones or smart Television. Surely, it will kill your boredom.

We can also enjoy sumptuous meals with family. All we need is creativity to find ways on how to enjoy amid this pandemic because surely, this pandemic scare is far from over.

The important thing is, we keep our faith in God, we follow government rules on pandemic and we keep our family and neighbors safe from the virus.
