THE Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) in Negros Occidental over the weekend released data showing that the number of active Covid-19 cases in the province stood at 418.

Based on PIMT's records as of April 3, Negros Occidental had a total of 7,556 confirmed cases, of which 6,911 were recoveries and 227 were deaths.

San Carlos City currently topped the number of active cases in the province with 78, followed by Cadiz City with 56, La Carlota City with 43, Silay City with 28, and Bago City with 24.

Despite the sharp surge in Covid cases in the province, the towns of Candoni, Don Salvador Benedicto, Hinoba-an, La Castellana, Manapla, and Moises Padilla were Covid-free.

Last week, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson ordered a return to the previous entry protocols for travelers by insisting on swabbing upon entry in the province in response to the rising number of active Covid-19 cases.

The new executive order reimposing the entry protocols, however, does not cover travelers originating within Western Visayas, wherein they are still free to leave and enter the province with only minimal requirements.
