Arayat mayor tests positive for coronavirus

ARAYAT Mayor Emmanuel Alejandrino has tested positive for Sars-CoV-2, which causes the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Alejandrino confirmed his infection through a video posted on Facebook, but assured that he is already recovering from the disease.

He said he already ordered the temporary stoppage of municipal hall operations from Monday up to Wednesday to allow thorough disinfection of the facility.

Aside from Alejandrino, four more municipal employees contracted the dreaded disease as of Monday, April 5.

Alejandrino, meanwhile, assured that delivery of public services is not hampered despite the temporary closure of the municipal hall.

"Your public officials, including me, continue to work to serve you. Even while I'm on isolation, I continue to do my duties to protect you from Covid-19 and serve your other needs," he said.

Alejandrino is the fourth local chief executive to test positive for Covid-19 after Candaba Mayor Rene Maglanque, Macabebe Mayor Bobong Flores and Mabalacat City Mayor Cris Garbo.
