SOME 60 events will be staged by the Cebu Food and Wine Festival (CFWF) including two grand tastings in Cebu and Mactan, from April 18 to May 2, 2021, to support Cebu’s hospitality and culinary industries which have been battered by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Aimed at attracting families and couples, the event will take participants on a culinary adventure with partner restaurants executing four-hand dinners, lunches, special “ingredient” events and tasting menus.

It will also feature specialty wines from different regions in France, Italy, New Zealand and Australia, club bookings and cooking classes.

Recovery project

“CFWF is a group that was born in the pandemic because all of us were tasked by the Department of Tourism to help them mount a recovery project for the hard-hit industries,” said Kate Dychangco-Anzani, co-founder of the CFWF and owner of the Anzani Group of Restaurants.

The CFWF is being held in collaboration with the Department of Tourism 7.

The 15-day CFWF ‘21 is also set to join Cebu’s Quincentennial celebration of Christianity and will offer a multitude of events around the entire island.

CFWF ’21 was created to highlight the culinary prowess of the produce, people and places of Cebu.

During this 15-day event, there will be a number of delectable activities such as lunches and dinners, wine seminars and tastings, cooking classes, tours, pop-up dinners, a silent auction, a two-weekend farmers market and beach brunch, among others.

These activities will be spread across the cities of Cebu, Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu.

The festival will formally open on April 18 with a grand beach dinner reception at Crimson Resort and Spa.

At the grand beach dinner reception, 25 food booths featuring profiled food specialists, highlighting specialty ingredients of the masterful hands of selected culinary professionals will be presented.

There will also be eight trade partners featuring mixologists crafting cocktails using local fine rum, unique gin elixirs, and selections of wines — vintage and verticals.

The evening will cap off with fireworks and entertainment and close with a live auction.

The festival’s culmination activity will be held in Marco Polo Plaza Cebu on May 2.

At the grand finale dinner at the EI Viento in Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, guests will get to savor a variety of tasty treats by special guest chefs in distinct action stations.

Due to the Covid-19 situation, restaurants have limited seating capacity and bookings will be undertaken on a first-come, first-served basis.

All activities will adhere to the security and safety protocols mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases.

Interested participants can visit the group’s official website at www.cebufoodandwinefestival.com to book a ticket for P2,000 for the grand beach dinner reception at Crimson Resort and Spa and P2,000 for the grand finale dinner at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu. (JOB)
