Pay rules out for Araw ng Kagitingan

WORKERS on duty on Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) Friday, April 9, 2021, are set to get double pay, according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Based on existing pay rules, the employee shall be paid 200 percent of his/her regular salary for the first eight hours of a regular holiday.

The Araw ng Kagitingan, also known as Bataan Day, is a regular holiday based on Proclamation No. 1107. It commemorates the fall of Bataan during the World War II.

For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work), a worker shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate.

For work done during a regular holiday that also falls on a rest day, DOLE said the workers shall be paid 230 percent of his/her regular salary for the first eight hours.

For work done in excess of eight hours (overtime work) during a regular holiday that also falls on his/her rest day, he/she shall be paid an additional 30 percent of his/her hourly rate on said day.

An employee who does not go to work on a regular holiday must still be paid 100 percent of his/her daily salary. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
