4-day youth camp to tackle Covid, HIV issues

TO ADDRESS issues related to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), teenage pregnancy, and mental health, the Cebuano Youth Ambassadors Inc. (CYA) will hold a four-day youth camp dubbed Barkada Campout V2.0 (BCO V2.0) on May 28-31, 2021 in Les Maisons D'Itac, Ronda, Cebu.

According to CYA, BCO V2.0 is a youth engagement program of the organization designed to improve the youth through leadership immersion, advocacy building, and character formation.

April Mae Ann Tampus, CYA committee head for networks and partnership, said that the program also aims to activate 20 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) federations and the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) and increase civic spaces engagement of 60 participating SK federations and non-SK youth leaders.

To join BCO V2.0, one must belong to a team of three that is composed of two SK leaders and one active LYDC youth leader. Non-SK youth leaders who want to join should be registered voters.

Each member of the team should be at least 18 years old and not more than 27 years old on May 28, 2021.

Deadline

Interested participants must submit a barangay certification that proves they have quarantined themselves from May 14 to 27, 2021, and a medical certificate dated May 27, 2021.

The deadline for the applications is on Saturday, April 10.

Tampus said among the expected activities during the youth camp include leadership and communications training, advocacy training, workshop on Youth Voters Education Caravan, and strategic planning, among others.
