FARMERS and residents of three barangays in Consolacion, Cebu will be assured of safe travel, transport of their agricultural produce, and other commodities with the groundbreaking of road projects in Barangay Polog and Panoypoy and the turnover of a newly concreted road project in Garing, Consolacion.

The road projects are initiatives of Representative Emmarie Loypop Ouano Dizon.

The said groundbreaking ceremonies signal the start of the construction of roads connecting Barangays Polog - Panoypoy to Cebu North Hagnaya Wharf Road amounting to close to P70 million.

Another road project to be constructed is in Polog-Pano road to connect Cebu North Hagnaya Wharf Road in support to crushing & batching plant and sanitary landfill in the said barangay amounting to P75 million.

The projects would also minimize flooding since drainage system facilities are also included in the construction.

The groundbreaking was attended by the 6th District Board Members Thadeo Jonkie Ouano and Glenn Soco, Consolacion Mayor Joannes Alegado, Councilor Alfie Ouano, Barangay Captains Glenn Reuyan of Polog, Ares Balaba of Panoypoy and other barangay officials.

Barangay Capt Reuyan was emotional and could not believe that his dream has turned into reality, as he thanked Dizon of the road project.

Both road projects would benefit 600 households in the said barangays and neighboring areas.

Dizon said the access roads in those barangays would serve not only its residents but also the neighboring barangays in terms of mobility and accessibility of their goods, which will help these barangays economic and commercial growth.

Meanwhile, Dizon likewise leads the turn over of a newly concreted road in Garing which would give residents more comfortable access to their homes and farms.

The road project is 225 meters in length and has a total cost of P2.5 million that would benefit 200 families in the area.

Dizon lauded DPWH 6th District Engr. Daisy Toledo for the successful implementation of the projects and urged barangay officials and beneficiaries to maintain and sustain the turned-over projects of the government.

She congratulated the barangay officials headed by Barangay Captain Wesley Alimorin and their constituents for their concern for the road condition of their areas, which led to the projects’ planning and implementation. (PR)
