DILG urges LGUs to do extensive contact tracing

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Northern Mindanao has issued an advisory instructing local government units (LGUs) to do extensive contact tracing to prevent the surge of Covid-19 cases like what happened in NCR.

Regional Director Arnel Agabe of DILG-Northern Mindanao said the contact tracing should be done to include identifying close contacts of not only the Covid-positive patients but also individuals exposed by the suspect and probable cases.

"Katong mga close contacts sa mga Covid-positive patients, ang ilahang mga close contacts pud would be included in the contact tracing and immediately informing them also that there's a need for them to isolate themselves," Agabe said during a virtual press conference.

As of April 8, the Department of Health (DOH)-Northern Mindanao recorded 101 new confirmed Covid-19 cases, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 infections in the region to 12,494.

"Ang gahitabo, naay problema sa pagpaspas nga aksyon, pagpahibalo sa katong mga close contact cases nga sila close contact, kinahanglanon mag isolate sa ilahang kaugalingon," Agabe said.

The DILG regional director also mentioned its advocacy for the strict observance of the minimum public health standards.

Agabe said community service should be included in the penalty for those who will be found to have violated the LGUs' ordinances on minimum public health standards.

"I think this is one of the advocacies nga kinahanglan ipadayon nato nga ipahibalo sa atoang mga kaigsoonan sa Northern Mindanao," Agabe said.

He also reminded those who have already received their shot of the Covid-19 vaccine to still observe the health protocols.
