Mabalacat mayor recovers from Covid-19

MABALACAT City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo has recovered from Covid-19 and is expected to return to work this coming week.

Garbo, an asymptomatic patient, told SunStar Pampanga that his negative swab test result came out Saturday morning, April 10, 2021.

The mayor thanked his constituents for the prayers and moral support. He also appealed to residents to maintain discipline and unity in the fight against the virus.

"Dakal salamat kareng prayers at sana maging disiplinado keng pamanarap keng pandemya at misasanmetung para labanan in Covid-19 a ini," Garbo said.

With the improvement of Garbo’s health condition, his medical consultants said the mayor is fit to work.

However, Garbo opted to complete the required 14-day isolation in his residence to avoid physical contact and prevent the probability of infecting others during his return to office.

According to the World Health Organization, laboratory data suggested that infected people appear to be most infectious just before they develop symptoms and early in their illness.

Meanwhile, people who develop severe disease can be infectious for a longer time.

The mayor urged city residents to always observe health protocols to avoid infection.

Garbo tested positive for coronavirus on March 29 after exposure to the virus due to his daily activity.

The city mayor also instructed City Administrator Emmanuel Ignacio to initiate mass testing to all city government employees and provide alternative working arrangements, which was stipulated under Office Memorandum 20 issued on April 6 to maintain the LGU’s productivity despite the repercussions of the pandemic.

To date, the Department of Health and the provincial government of Pampanga have continued their inoculation procedures to frontline workers, senior citizens, and people with comorbidities in Mabalacat City.

Covid-19 vaccines the local government purchased are expected to arrive in July 2021.
