5 Magalang seniors contract coronavirus

FIVE senior citizens were among the 11 new Covid-19 cases in the agricultural town of Magalang in Pampanga, a report said.

The elderly who contracted the virus included a 69-year-old man from Barangay San Nicolas 1; a 72-year-old man from San Nicolas 1; a 72-year-old man also from San Nicolas 1; an 85-year-old man from San Jose; and a 71-year-old woman also of San Jose.

These brought the total number of coronavirus cases in the town to 323, as of Friday, April 9, 2021.

The local government also recorded 18 Covid-19 deaths and 75 active cases.

All of the patients were isolated in different hospitals in Pampanga, while their close contacts were place under quarantine.

The local government appealed to the public to always follow minimum health standards set by the Department of Health to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

"We are also appealing to every qualified individual to get vaccinated against the dreaded Covid-19 virus," the municipal government added.
