Bacolod Council asks for P20-M funds for tablets

THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution requesting Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Wendel Avisado for the P20-million funding under the local government support fund-other financial assistance units (LGSF-FA) to local government units for the purchase of tablets for use of students of the City of Bacolod.

The resolution was authored by Councilor Carlos Jose Lopez, chairperson of the City Council committee on environment and ecology.

Lopez said there is a need to provide additional support and funding from the national coffers to answer the needs of the city.

He said the DBM issued Local Budget Circular (LBC) 131 , dated January 8, 2021, prescribing guidelines on the release and utilization of the LGSF-FA for local government units in the Fiscal Year 2021 General Appropriation Act, Republic Act 11518.

He added that according to the aforesaid circular, the appropriated amount shall be used for financial assistance to LGUs support priority program and projects such as assistance programs and projects for education in light of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Lopez has made representation with the DBM and the City Mayor is aware of his request and fully supports this project.
