Provincial Consultant for Hospital Operations Marton Cui was shot by still unknown suspects in front of his office at Emerald Arcade, Fc Ledesma Avenue, Brgy. 1, San Carlos City past 8:00 o'clock last night (Monday, April 12).
Police Captain Roger Pama, Deputy Chief of Police of San Carlos City Police Station confirmed to SunStar-Bacolod that Cui succumbed to a lone gunshot wound on his chest.
He expired at 9:00 p.m. upon arrival at the San Carlos City Hospital, Pama said.
Cui was about to board his vehicle from his office when he was shot. He had two body guards and a security was also detailed at the exit of his office, Pama said.
Pama said, Cui had not reported to the San Carlos Police any death threat against him prior to the incident.
He said they will review the Closed Circuit TV footage to aid the police investigation and possibly identify the suspect or suspects.
He also revealed that they will dig deeper into the van spotted near the area if indeed it was the getaway vehicle used by the suspect or suspects.
Cui was known as one of the major political operator and leader in the first district of the province.
He was reported to have been planning to run for mayor of Toboso in the coming May 2022 elections.
The San Carlos City Police Station is still investigating as to the motive behind the killing. (TDE)
