The KCS Computer Specialist-Mandaue will be missing one of their most reliable big men after Bernie Bregondo suffered what the team fears to be a hamstring injury.
The development was confirmed by KCS head coach Mike Reyes who revealed that Bregondo is slated to undergo an MRI to confirm and determine the severity of the injury that he suffered on Monday while the team was going through drills.
Bregondo, who started for KCS during their 66-46 win over Siquijor last Friday, is one of Reyes’ most dependable soldiers. The 6-foot-5 big man had three points, five rebounds, three steals and a block in that contest.
This development will also place a lot of pressure on KCS’ remaining big men—Rhaffy Octobre and Monic Soliva—especially after the team’s prized acquisitions, the 6-foot-5 JR Ongteco, backed out of the last minute because of controversial MPBL rule that classifies players of the 2021 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Cup as “professionals.” (JNP)
