Covid-19 cases, deaths rise steadily

NEW coronavirus infections continued to exceed 8,000 per day while deaths from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) remained above 100, based on the Department of Health (DOH) case bulletin Wednesday, April 14, 2021.

The DOH confirmed 8,122 new cases that brought the cumulative Covid-19 case count in the Philippines closer to 900,000.

As of Wednesday, the total case count was 892,880, of which 173,047 or 19.4 percent were active cases.

There were 162 additional mortalities, raising the death toll from Covid-19 to 15,447. The case fatality rate remained at 1.73 percent.

There were 501 new recoveries, bringing the total to 704,386.

The daily positivity rate was 19.5 percent. As of noon of April 13, a total of 39,796 samples were tested for Sars-CoV-2. (Marites Villamor-Ilano / SunStar Philippines)
