THE prices of chicken and pork in Carbon Public Market are now back to their regular prices, according to the Cebu City Market Operations Division.

Cebu City Market Administrator Irvin Cabales said prices of different cuts of pork now range from P160 to P200 per kilo.

As of April 14, 2021, a kilo of pork chop was selling for P115; liempo, P180; pork tenderloin, P180; front thigh, P200; and rare thigh, P170.

In the first two months of 2021, the price of pork meat was P280.

According to previous reports, the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries (DVMF) saw an increase in meat prices by P80 to P100 between January and February.

Cabales said the prices of chicken also steadied this month.

On April 14, based on the price monitoring of the Market Operations Division, a cut of breast was P125 per kilo; drumstick, P175; liver and gizzard, P140; thigh, P175; whole chicken, P150; and wings, P175.

Cabales said the reason for the decrease in prices was the increase in supply.

All the supplies of meat products are coming from local suppliers, said Cabales.

The hog raisers have increased their produce now, unlike last year when they limited their produce due to the economic uncertainty brought about by the high number of Covid-19 cases. (JJL)
