16 Cagayan de Oro residents contract coronavirus

THE Cagayan de Oro Health Office recorded 16 new coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, one of which was a locally stranded individual (LSI) and 15 were local transmissions.

This brought the total number of confirmed coroanvirus infections in the city to 4,387.

Acting City Health Officer Dr. Lorraine Nery said of the 15 new local cases, eight were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, one was a local authorized person outside residence (Apor), and six were local index cases.

Of the 4,387 total Covid-19 cases in the city, 435 were under the returning overseas Filipino workers/locally stranded individuals (ROFs/LSIs) category and 3,952 cases were local transmissions.

Nery said the 3,952 local cases consisted of 211 persons deprived of liberty, 2,073 local index cases and 1,666 local cases with link.

Cagayan de Oro logged 264 active cases, 70 of whom were admitted to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center and other hospitals in the city, 186 were outpatients, and eight ROFs/LSIs.

The city also registered 17 new coronavirus-positive persons who were now tagged as "recovered," bringing the total number of recoveries in Cagayan de Oro to 3,920, with a 89.35-percent recovery rate.

Of the figure, 304 were LSIs, 121 were ROFs, and 3,495 were local cases (community: 2,967; Apors: 528).

The number of Covid-19 deaths in the city was at 203.
