9 frat members sued for neophyte's death

DAVAO City Prosecutor's Office formally charged members of Tau Gamma Phi and Tau Gamma Sigma for the death of a neophyte in August 2009.

Charged with violation of Republic Act 8049 otherwise known as the Anti-Hazing Law were Pablito Mancao Jr., Edsil Basadre, Hermilo Mahumoc, JR Osias, Dan Sayman, Junavie Cagas, Richie Ryan Bodiongan, and a certain Jane alias Karla Gonzales after it was established that they were present during the initiation rites and were thus presumed to have participated in.

Prosecutor Victor Sepulveda dismissed the other named respondents for insufficiency of evidence.

The victim, Carl Anthony Gaudicos, an 18-year-old Engineering student at Holy Cross of Davao College, died during initiation rites conducted by the fraternity members.

The incident happened on August 21 at Purok 4, Barangay Ilang, Bunawan District.
