Tell it to SunStar: Open the CCSC

IT HAS been more than a year since the Cebu City Government shut down the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC) in the beginning of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic to prevent the disease from spreading.

Back then, not much was known about SarsCoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. So the City was right to be extra cautious. But much has changed in the last 12 months.

Keeping fit and eating a well-balanced meal may help keep the disease at bay.

Not everyone, though, can afford to buy fruits, vegetables and non-fatty meats, while a rigorous workout requires hardly any money. But where can people exercise?

In the past, residents flocked to the sports center to walk, jog, sprint, swim, box, dance, play badminton and whatnot. But right now they are barred from entering because the City Government decided to use the facility to house police personnel.

It only proves that the City values the police more than its voters.
