AT LEAST nine police officers of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) detailed at Police Station 1 tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Bacolod City.

Police Major Ramel Sarona, chief of Police Station 1, on Friday, April 16, 2021, said nine of his personnel have tested positive for the coronavirus last week and are now in stable condition.

Of the number, seven underwent Field Training Program (FTP), while two others were augmentation personnel from Police Regional Office-Western Visayas and field training officers.

Sarona said all of them were transferred to the city’s quarantine facility and their close contacts also underwent swab tests.

He said the seven FTPs were assigned as beat patrollers within their areas of jurisdiction and are not required to stay inside the police station.

“We are now strictly enforcing the minimum health protocols inside the police station to prevent the spread of the virus,” he added.

Sarona said he was not exposed to his nine personnel. All of them are expected to report next week.

Sarona urged the public to always wear face masks, face shields and observe social distancing.
