IN ITS continuing efforts to provide educational assistance during the pandemic, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. led the initial distribution of internet cards for learning exclusively for the use of public school students Grades 4 to 12 in Angeles City.
“Sa pamamagitan ng mga internet learning cards na ito, magkakaroon sila ng dedicated access sa libreng internet, para mas maging stable ang connection nila kapag meron silang online classes, at mas mapadali ang kanilang pag-aaral,” Lazatin said.
(These internet learning cards will give them a dedicated access to free and stable internet connection, making online learning easier for them.)
The City Government was able to distribute a total of 5,404 internet cards during its initial distribution -- 1,782 for the City College of Angeles (CCA); 493 for Marisol Bliss Elementary School; 1,036 for Sta. Teresita Elementary School; and 2,093 for Malabanias Integrated School.
Each internet card can be used for a maximum of three years, allowing students to have a better and more stable internet access.
“Gusto nating magkaroon ng libre at maayos na internet connection ang mga estudyante at guro natin, para magamit nila sa kanilang digital education, lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” Lazatin said.
(We want our students and teachers to have free and better access to internet, which they can use in their digital education, especially now in this time of Covid-19 pandemic.)
It can be recalled that a total of 700 access points were installed city-wide for free Wi-Fi connection, 200 of which were paid for by the City Government for P20 million, while the other 500 are being installed for free.
With Lazatin during the initial distribution of internet cards was Office of the City Mayor Record’s Section head Jermaine Jam Aguila.
According to Aguila, the City Government is set to distribute a total of 57,530 internet cards to the city’s public school students, grades 4 to 12. These are the same students who also received the free tablets from the City Government.
In January of this year, the City Government completed the distribution of tablets to the city’s 53 public schools and scholars of City College of Angeles (CCA).
The distributed tablets would augment the inclusive needs of the Grades 4 to 12 public school students, and city scholars in their online learning amid the pandemic.
“Ibabalik din po ang mga tablets na ito sa mga kani-kanilang eskwelahan pagkatapos ng Academic School Year, para magamit po ng susunod na batch ng mga estudyante,” Lazatin said.
(They will also return the tablets to their respective schools, so other batches of students can use them.)
Lazatin affirmed his commitment to education and in making sure that Angelenos children are still able to continue their learning, despite the many challenges the city is facing.
“Sisiguraduhin nating walang kabataang Angeleno ang maiiwan ngayong panahon ng pandemya,” Lazatin said.
