5 private property owners willing to donate lots for Bacolod hospital

ABOUT five private property owners in Bacolod City are willing to donate their lots for the construction of the Bacolod District Hospital in the city.

This was stressed by Bacolod City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya on Monday, April 19, 2021, after he already talked with property owners and signified their willingness to donate lots for the construction of the Bacolod District Hospital.

“These five private property owners are willing to donate their lots in the areas of Barangay Bata, Mansilingan, Estefania, Pahanocoy and Felisa,” he said.

He added that he already submitted the lists of areas to the Department of Health (DOH) so they can assess and evaluate the areas of the construction of the Bacolod District Hospital.

In 2020, the House of Representatives approved on third and final reading House Bill 6731, establishing a tertiary hospital in Bacolod City to be known as the Bacolod City General Hospital.

The proposed bill was authored by Gasataya.

Under the guidelines of DOH, a tertiary general hospital offers services such as family medicine, pediatrics, internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, emergency services, outpatient services, and ancillary and support services such as clinical laboratory, imaging facility and pharmacy.

Along with these facilities such as physical medicine and rehabilitation unit, ambulatory surgical clinic, dialysis clinic, tertiary clinic laboratory with histopathology, a blood bank, and third-level x-ray may also be included.

Gasataya said the bill was already forwarded to the Senate and subject for second reading.

He said it was high time that Bacolod will have its own hospital, one that will have state-of-the-art facilities and offers quality services to indigents and low-income groups.
