Community pantry: The value of sharing

COVID-19 pandemic has created a lot of creative opportunities among the locals and Filipinos alike.

Just like the current trend of organizing a community pantry, wherein those who have extra contribute to buy food and other essentials and openly share the goods to those who are in need of things that are basic in the kitchen.

It all started outside of the province but in no time we also have good Samaritans here who replicated the activity and extended their generosity and kindness to others.

Some residents in the province and in the city have set up their own community pantries. And the common sight are vegetables, eggs, canned goods, noodles and other ingredients that are necessary to cooking.

The purpose of this community pantry is to share something with others.

While there are mixed reactions about community pantries, it is good to focus on the advantages of this movement. The impoverished members of the community who need some ingredients in their cooking can get what they need and those who can afford to share it with the community pantry can also share so that many people can avail of it.

Residents of Victorias led by Maria Allesandra Acuña and her friends established a community pantry in their area in cooperation with the VCATODA, who provided for the venue and for helping them ensure the observance of the health protocol.

They shared a line, “And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

The group hopes that others will also do the same because it is heartwarming to help in whatever means.

It is not how much you can share but the fact that you have shared whatever you have shows how big is your heart.
