Cebu City to launch community pantry

CEBU City's Market Operations Division will launch on Friday, April 23, 2021, the "City Hall pantry at your doorstep" that will give away agricultural produce for free.

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella directed Market Administrator Irvin Cabales to launch the project to help residents.

Cabales met with market vendors of Carbon Public Market on Thursday, April 22, 2021, regarding the donation of some of their products.

He said instead of disposing of these products, they will distribute it to communities badly affected by the pandemic and can still make use of the produce,

The first stop of the City Hall pantry at your doorstep is the pier area. Cabales said residents in these areas badly need the help.

Cabales said the vendors can put vegetables, fruits, and meat on the sites of community pantries.

Cabales said they will also be monitoring and checking the quality of the products being put in the community pantries.

Recently, community pantries were popping in various barangays in Cebu City like in Barangay Guadalupe, Tisa, Apas, and Pasil.(PAC)
