Kagay-anons urged to practice health protocols at home

THE Cagayan de Oro City Government has urged the public to strictly observe the minimum public health protocols even at home.

This, after Cagayan de Oro recorded 52 new local cases, mf which are cases with link or those who are in close contact with a coronavirus-positive member of the family.

"Fifty-two cases, pila didto ang naa gyud clear nga infection sa pamilya or sa kauban? 26. Clear gyud nga natakdan sa kauban or sa pamilya. Mao na kay nagkompyansa man. Nagsalig. Mao nang atong bantayan," Mayor Oscar Moreno said.

City epidemiologist Dr. Joselito Retuya said the sudden increase in the number of new local cases might be the result of people going out of their houses during the Holy Week.

"Istrikto ta dinhi sa atong dakbayan sa Holy Week, walay mga resort nga nangabli pero sa gawas sa Cagayan de Oro, atong makita nga kasagaran ang byahe gawas sa Cagayan de Oro. Pagbalik nila, pipila ra ka adlaw, duna'y gihambing nga mga reklamo, nara sa pamilya. Mao ang atong nakita dinhi," Retuya said.

He reminded the public to avoid attending gatherings and if possible, still practice the health protocols even when dining with family and friends.

The mayor said if the number of new cases continues to grow until the city will be put at high risk, there is the possibility that Cagayan de Oro will be in lockdown.

"Simbako unya og dili nato ma-control, mosaka sa high risk, medyo sigurado gyud ang lockdown diha og uban. Di nato gusto nga moabot ta diha," Moreno said.

Moreno also said that the spread of the novel coronavirus can be prevented if everyone will practice the minimum public health standards, which include the wearing of face mask and face shield, and social distancing.

The public is also urged to avoid gatherings, both with people they are not close to and with family and friends.
