"IT WILL be a super battle royale."

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson made this early forecast on what is going to happen in Bacolod City in the coming May 2022 elections.

Lacson made the statement after Provincial Consultant and former Third District representative Alfredo " Albee" Benitez finally transferred his voting registration from Victorias City to Bacolod City on Thursday, April 22, 2021.

Lacson assured support for whatever decision Benitez will make for the coming May 2022 elections.

"Either he will run for mayor of Bacolod City or senator of the Philippines, we will support him," Lacson said.

He said he will reveal his reasons why he supports Benitez after he makes his political decision.

When asked for reaction on the move of Benitez that his options to run for any provincial position is now over and dousing the speculations that Benitez may run against him in the coming election, Lacson clarified that it did not come to the point that Benitez considered that.

"Albee has not seriously considered that. Cong. Albee has supported me from way back in 2016. I do not see any threat that a challenger will come from our party," Lacson said.

Lacson joined the provincial officials who gathered Thursday and gave support to Benitez in a lunch at the Social Hall of the Provincial Capitol to the Comelec Bacolod office.

Officials and mayors who joined Benitez on Thursday were House Minority Leader Stephen "Caraps" Paduano, Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer with the members of the Provincial Board and Mayors Mark Andrew Gokez of Silay City, Marvin Malacon of EB Magalona, Francis Frederick Palanca of Victorias City, Himamaylan City Mayor Raymond Tongson, Don Salvador Benedicto Mayor Jilson Tubillara, Moises Padilla Mayor Ella Garcia-Yulo, Manapla Mayor Manolet Escalante, Mayor Enrique Miravalles of Valladolid, Cadiz City Mayor Salvador Escalante, Binalbagan Mayor Alejandro Mirasol and La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Mangilimutan.
