Cult member shot dead, cop wounded in gunfire

A CULT member was shot dead and a policeman was injured in a shootout at 2:30 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 in Purok Nangka, Sitio Ilihan in Barangay Lataban, Liloan.

The deceased member of the cult called Tadtad was identified as Arnel Cabahug Capangpangan, 35, married, from Iligan City. His sibling, Marlou Cabahug Capangpangan, 25, was wounded in the incident.

The injured policeman is Police Lieutenant Zosimo Ravanes Jr., 53, team leader of the Anti-Kidnapping Group-Visayas Field Unit (AKG-VFU) 7.

The AKG-VFU 7, Regional Intelligence Division, and Liloan Police Station were serving a warrant of arrest for a rape case against four individuals, including the Capangpangan siblings.

But the four individuals who were supposed to be arrested started shooting at the police force.

Ravanes was hit on his left side where the bullet was lodged. He will undergo a surgical operation. (GPL/With NRC)
