PNP death toll from Covid-19 climbs to 52

ANOTHER police officer has died from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the death toll in the Philippine National Police (PNP) to 52.

Lieutenant Guillermo Eleazar, Philippine National Police (PNP) deputy chief for administration, said Friday, April 23, 2021, that the latest fatality was a 50-year-old police officer assigned at the Central Luzon Police Regional Office (PRO-3). He died on Wednesday, April 21.

As of Thursday, April 22, Eleazar said there remained 2,133 active Covid-19 cases in the PNP.

Of this number, 91 are in the hospital while the rest are confined in various PNP quarantine facilities.

Eleazar said 17,113 out of 19,298 PNP personnel who contracted the virus have recovered.

Meanwhile, the number of PNP personnel vaccinated against Covid-19 has reached 9,917, consisting of 7,920 who were inoculated with Sinovac and 1,992 who received the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Out of those who received Sinovac shots, 2,032 already got their second dose.

Three police attachés got Moderna vaccines while two police attachés received Pfizer shots while on their duty abroad. (SunStar Philippines)
