Nigerian yields P1.7M worth of drugs

A FOREIGN national was arrested by authorities in an anti-illegal drug operation launched in Barangay Pulung Maragul, Angeles City on Friday, April 23, 2021.

Police Regional Office-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon identified the suspect as Mathias Ibrahim Anike, 30, a resident of Imus, Cavite.

De Leon said during the transaction, the suspect sensed that he was dealing with authorities and tried to elude arrest onboard his driven vehicle.

"While trying to run off, the suspect lost control of the steering wheel and rammed at a steel barrier resulting in his arrest," said De Leon.

Seized from Anike's possession were ten pieces of small and medium-sized sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu), weighing approximately 250 grams with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P1.7 million, and P1,000 bill marked money.

Cases for violation of Section 5 and Section 11 Art II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 and Section 26B in relation to Section 5 Article II of RA 9165 are being prepared against the suspect for filing before the Prosecutor’s Office.
