ABOUT 4,000 medical frontliners in Bacolod City received their second doses of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in the city.

Dr. Chris Sorongon, deputy for medical data and analysis of Emergency Operations Center (EOC), said as of April 23, about 4,000 medical frontliners received their second doses of Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines and the rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine is still on going.

He said since April 18, they vaccinated more than 6,000 medical frontliners assigned in various hospitals in the city.

He added on Friday, they also started the vaccination of senior citizens after the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) earlier approved the use of CoronaVac, the vaccine manufactured by Sinovac, among senior citizens.

Of 350 senior citizens, 150 of them were vaccinated at the Bacolod Government Center lobby and the rest were inoculated in the vaccination centers of Barangays Villamonte, Mandalagan, Vista Alegre and Singcang-Airport.

They were inoculated by City Health Office (CHO) personnel. They will receive their second doses of Sinovac vaccine after three weeks.

On April 7, the National Covid-19 Vaccination Operations Center issued an advisory on the voluntary vaccination of CoronaVac among senior citizens.

Sorongon said the vaccination for senior citizens will resume Monday and they expect more senior citizens will avail of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“For now, Bacolod City has a total of 66,000 senior citizens that were included in our master lists and we will vaccinate them,” he said.

On April 27, the EOC will hold a meeting with the regional office and they will wait for the announcement of additional delivery of Covid-19 vaccines intended for Bacolod City, whether it will be the Sinovac or the Russian-made Sputnik.
