11 more Bacolod cops test positive for coronavirus

AN ADDITIONAL 11 police officers of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Bacolod City.

Police Lieutenant Ma. Liberty Indiape, spokesperson of BCPO, on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, said more than 300 policemen from BCPO headquarters and various police stations underwent swab tests from April 24 to 26.

She said on April 25 and 26, swab test results showed that 11 policemen tested positive for the virus.

Those who tested positive for the virus were transferred to the city’s quarantine facility and contact tracing was already conducted.

Indiape noted that last week, a total of 18 personnel of BCPO also tested positive for the virus, including the station commander of Police Station 4.

Police Colonel Manuel Placido, director of BCPO, earlier issued a directive that all policemen should undergo swab testing based on the recommendation of the Emergency Operations Center (ECO), since they are also frontliners.

Indiape said Colonel Placido also underwent swab testing on Tuesday and they are hopeful for a negative result.

She said the EOC and the City Health Office will finish the surveillance testing this week to ensure that all policemen will undergo swab test.

Indiape reminded all station commanders to strictly enforce health protocols inside the police station, especially wearing face masks and face shields, as well as the observance of social distancing.
