THE City Government of Bacolod will allow residents in Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport, where their houses were earlier hit by fire, to utilize a certain portion of the city’s property in said village.

The City Council has approved a resolution on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, favorably endorsing the utilization as a residential area of a certain portion of the city’s property in Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport in favor of the actual residents therein.

The resolution was authored by Councilor Renecito Novero, chairman of the City Council committee on urban poor, housing and resettlement.

On April 26, a fire razed a total of 55 houses in Purok Neptune, Barangay Singcang-Airport.

Novero said on April 27, Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran visited the families who were victims of the fire that gutted their respective homes in Purok Neptune as these families were gathered at the gymnasium of JR Torres Elementary School in said village.

He said the area which these families have been occupying for years in Purok Neptune is owned by the City of Bacolod and was purchased from the Arnaldo family some time ago when the mayor of Bacolod was also Leonardia.

He added that during the visits of the city officials, they expressed their desire to allocate a portion of this property as residence of the families who were already occupants thereof for years with a plan of constructing a connecting road towards Gaisano City Grand Mall.

Novero said the above-mentioned commitment of Leonardia and Familiaran will help expedite the realization of the yearning of these residents as expressed in the meetings held between them and the committee of urban poor, housing and resettlement.

A copy of the resolution will be forwarded to the City Planning Division Office, Bacolod Housing Authority and City Engineer’s Office for respective assistance which their respective offices can appropriately provide.
