Labor Day sees vaccination of 10 workers per region

THE Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (Dole 7) confirms the region will join in the nationwide ceremonial Covid-19 vaccination of workers that is meant to celebrate Labor Day on

May 1, 2021.

In a press conference on Friday, April 30, Dole 7 Director Salome Siaton said 10 workers per region belonging to the A4 Covid-19 priority group will be inoculated on Labor Day as a way of honoring the country’s workforce.

“We were informed by DOH (Department of Health) that they have a directive to allocate Covid-19 vaccines for 10 workers per region,” Siaton said in a mix of English and Cebuano.

The A4 group of individuals are next in priority to healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.

She said Dole 7 is still finalizing their list of workers who will be part of the ceremonial vaccination.

She said the workers will come from various sectors such as transport, other frontline establishments like grocery stores and supermarkets, and basic and secondary teachers among others.

As of press time, Siaton said they were still awaiting confirmation on whether the venue for the ceremonial vaccination will be at the DOH7 vaccination operations center in Cebu City.

“Dole’s role is on the data-basing and connecting with the DOH on the background on who will be vaccinated,” Siaton added.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, earlier, approved Dole’s request for 5,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine for the ceremonial vaccination of other essential workers nationwide on Labor Day. (WBS)
