Pampanga Mayors League asks guv to extend quarantine restrictions until May 15

PAMPANGA Governor Dennis Pineda announced the extension of Executive Order (EO) No. 5 A and B, which sets stricter quarantine protocols in Pampanga until May 15.

Pineda made this announcement after 14 of the 20 town mayors of Pampanga signed Resolution 2 of the Pampanga Mayors League (PML) asking for the extension of restrictions to further stem the rise of coronavirus cases in Pampanga.

This, as the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic breached the 15,0000-mark.

Under the extension, the Pampanga police and barangay officials would still set up mandatory checkpoints in their areas.

Likewise, only those 18 years to 60 years old are allowed to go outside their residences only for essential purposes. Pregnant women are prohibited from going outside for their safety.

Pineda also said a liquor ban would be imposed, while curfew hours have been set from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Pineda said business establishments, such as groceries and restaurants, would be allowed to operate at 50-percent maximum capacity while observing proper distancing and health protocols.

Establishments found violating the executive order will face immediate closure.

Residents have been required to comply with safety protocols, such as the wearing of face masks and shields, maintaining a physical distance of one meter to two meters, and avoiding crowded gatherings.
