Pangan: A sense of oneness

WE OUGHT to live in constant awareness of the deadly virus which by all estimates may last beyond 2022. So, what to do?

From a street in Quezon City sprung a well-intentioned scheme denominated Community Pantry, which offers goods and essential commodities including rice and everyone on Maginhawa Street was welcome to take them for their families' needs.

Soon, this gesture became viral on social media and more Community Pantries were set up everywhere in the Visayas and Mindanao area.

People flocked to these structures and obtained whatever their families needed for the day to stave off hunger and keep them alive.

But lo and behold! Just when the idea has snowballed to huge proportions, authorities have thought otherwise. They began branding the organizers led by Ana Patricia Non as Reds or Leftist sympathizers or communist-oriented individuals.

Such red-tagging is downright insulting to the organizers who had nothing in mind but to help others who needed help so much! Such inconsiderate red-tagging is irresponsible and very un-Christian and is the handiwork of paranoids!

Why would such noble undertaking such as setting up Community Pantries be considered pro-communists? They were set up precisely to help alleviate the hunger of so many people and to afford the government some breathing space after handing out ayudas which, by the way, the distribution thereof was marred by anomalies and mismanagement.

Some people negate the good deeds of well-meaning individuals: they are oftentimes fault-finders, doomsayers, the do-nothing good brats who have no sense of oneness and cooperation.

These are the same people who have the crab mentality and are the worst brand of sadists. For them, nothing is right from the bayanihan spirit.

These types of people, the negatives, are worst than the current pandemic since they destroy some good organizers' dreams.

The country feels the shortage despite the donations from China and the Covax facility. Why? It is because of our ill-designed plans to acquire them. Where are the funds borrowed and donated? Your guess is as good as mine, sirs.
