A PORTION of the sales of the Angeles City’s One Town, One Product (Otop) Store has been set aside to support the city’s livelihood program.

The Otop Store’s “Labor of Love” live selling event on April 30 has yielded a total of P44,020 in sales.

Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr. said local merchants at the Otop Store have agreed to set aside 15 percent of the sales to purchase livelihood kits for accessories and lanyard making, which will be given to beneficiaries of their choosing.

According to Irish Bonus-Llego, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (Acedipo) head, the beneficiaries for the livelihood program will also be trained under the supervision of Acedipo, which also manages the Otop store.

"The finished products will then be displayed for selling in our Otop Store,” Bonus-Llego said.

This is the second time that the Otop Store has hosted a live selling event with the initiative of Lazatin in strengthening the “Pasal-One, Angeleño Pa” campaign, which aims to promote local products and help local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), especially during the pandemic.

The recent live selling event was also in line with the city government's celebration of Labor Day.

It can be recalled that in December 2020, the Otop Store had conducted a historic 12.12 sale and live selling event.

Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting, who graced the live selling event, said local MSMEs play a vital role in showing the rich talent, culture and arts of Angeles City.

“With every Gawang Angeleño product lies the mighty mind and hands of our local producers, which really deserves a spotlight worldwide,” Vega-Cabigting said.

Since the reopening of the Otop Store, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel has been supervising and working closely with the Acedipo in ensuring programs for the local MSMEs.

Meanwhile, Chief Adviser and Tactician IC Calaguas shared that Lazatin will continue to support the city's MSMEs in championing Gawang Angeleño products.

Manuel and Calaguas, who were present during the event, also thanked Angeleños for patronizing Gawang Angeleño products, especially the all-out support of miners.

Some of the products sold during the live selling were miniature ships from Adto Ship; metal plant stands by BG Metals; water bonsais of the JJBMS Blooming Greens; plant baskets from Cutud Weavers; recycled bags by Ellen’s Handbags; kitchen organizers from Flores Handicrafts; bayong bags of Tamayuq; hand-painted home decors by Tabak’s Artworks; fashion accessories of K’s creations; wooden kitchenware from WoodCraft by Madison; Capiz home decorations from Chilona Fabrica; and hair accessories of Stitched by Raj.

Also part of the live selling was a raffle draw with prizes donated by Manuel, Calaguas, who is also Clark International Airport Corporation vice president for operations, Beautéderm Corporation led by Chief Executive Officer and President Rhea Anicoche-Tan, IBAC products, and Pepper's Closet PH.
