Barmm builds 3 village halls in Maguindanao town

THE Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) is building three two-story village halls worth P3.5 million each in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao to bring the government closer to the people.

Lawyer Naguib Sinarimbo, Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) minister, said the recipients of the projects are the Gang, Banubo, and Simuay in the town of Sultan Kudarat.

Barmm Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim and Sinarimbo led the groundbreaking ceremony Saturday, May 1, for the construction of three village halls.

Ebrahim said building government centers in every village across the region is part of Barmm’s commitments in its continuous call for "moral governance."

“It is very important that we have a barangay hall to ensure that we can provide them (people) with services that suit their needs,” Ebrahim said.

Meanwhile, Sinarimbo said the three village halls are part of the initial 20 of the 220 barangay halls that are currently being constructed in the different areas of Sulu and Lanao provinces, the 63 barangays from North Cotabato, Cotabato City and Maguindanao.

Sinarimbo said the remaining 200 will be constructed within the year in all of Barmm’s provinces. (SunStar Zamboanga)
