SOME 26,374 senior citizens have initially registered for vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in Zamboanga City, the City Health Office announced.
This, as the City Health Office pushed forward its vaccination program as it commenced Thursday, April 29, the inoculation of senior citizens and people with comorbidities priority groups, utilizing the 900 available vaccine doses on hand, which are the excess from the A1 priority group allocation.
The A1 priority group was medical frontliners while the A2 and A3 were senior citizens and people with comorbidities, respectively.
Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said the vaccines are distributed to all six vaccination sites for a process flow run through involving the A2 and A3 priority groups. Each vaccination site was given 50 doses of vaccines.
Miravite said the registration for senior citizens and those with comorbidities along with other priority groups is still ongoing.
The Department of Health (DOH) has received on Saturday, May 1, the shipment of the fifth batch of vaccines consisting of 25,200 doses from the DOH central office.
Dr. Augusto Manolo Alpichi, DOH assistant director, said the vaccines are intended for the A2 and A3 priority groups.
Alpichi said the fifth batch shipment is to inoculated some 12,600 members of the A2 and A3 priority groups at two doses each with 28 days interval.
He said the vaccines will be distributed to different DOH-retained hospitals in the region, including the Sulu Central Sanitarium. (SunStar Zamboanga)
